Salernitana vs Fiorentina (5:00 PM)

Thomas Tuchel says he regrets many of the 'mistakes' he has made at Chelsea recently and has damaged his club's 'self-confidence'.

Chelsea struggled to make an impact in the 2022 season, beating Real Madrid at the start of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu to reach the FA Cup final, but falling to the likes of Brentford and Arsenal.

Many of these poor performances were attributed to Edouard Mendy; Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta were recently convicted of three counts of felony criminal mischief.

Ahead of the clash between West Ham and Chelsea, Tuchel admitted he was worried about the mistakes: "I'm worried about a lot of mistakes.

"In 2022 we already had eight big mistakes to score. This is unusual and very special.

"It costs us a lot. It gives us more than just a goal, it gives us confidence and confidence in what you are doing."

Tuchel is keen to admit to blaming some of these mistakes and admits it is his job to 'alert' players and watch every game they play.

"I'm tired of people pushing me to be more careful in later games than usual," he said.

"Sometimes a good foundation of 60 games is good. Once a week, every game in Mainz is like a cup final. The players are exhausted until Tuesday.

"A good visit to Bernabeu would be less stressful than a regular home game in the Premier League. The tension, the excitement and the pressure may be less, but with less caution or less investment it will never happen."
