Bayern Munich and Canada star Alphonso Davies has been named the Concacaf Men's Player of the Year for 2021.

Davies made seven appearances for Canada last year, helping Canucks reach the World Cup for the first time since 1986, after helping with the first leg.

The 21-year-old also scored a memorable lone goal in Canada's 4-1 win over Panama in October. At club level, David remained Bayern Munich's first-choice left-back throughout 2021, helping them win another Bundesliga title.

"Thanks to everyone at Concacaf for the recognition," Davies wrote on social media after the award. "I'm always glad to see the results of your efforts. Thank you to all my teammates and coaches for what they have done."

Davies is joined by USMNT stars Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie, as well as CanMNT teammate Jonathan David; Hirving Lozano of Mexico and Michail Antonio of Jamaica won. Previous winners include Lozano; Keylor Navas and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez.

In addition to the individual awards, Davies was named left-back in the Concacaf Men's Best XI by K. Moscoso (Guatemala); S. Dest (USA), J. Sanchez (Mexico), H. Moreno (Mexico), A. Davies (Canada); E. Alvarez (Mexico), H. Herrera (Mexico), W. McKennie (USA); C. Pulisic (USA), H. Lozano (Mexico), J. Corona (Mexico).

Despite a recent absence due to myocarditis, Davies took to Twitch to cheer on his Canadian team-mates, who finished top of the Concacaf World Cup group over the United States and Mexico.

David is set to face Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals of Bayern Munich.
